Ingredients

  • 1 2-Liter Bottle of Root Beer
  • 1 1/2 Cups Apple Cider Vinegar
  • 1/2 Cup Ketchup
  • 1/4 Cup Yellow Mustard
  • 2 T Lemon Juice
  • 1 T Worcestershire
  • 1 T Tabasco
  • 1 t Kosher Salt
  • 1 t Black Pepper
  • 2 T Unsalted Butter

Directions

  1. Reduce 1 2-Liter bottle of root beer to 1 Cup over medium heat in a large saucepan (it takes about 1 hour - more like 1.5-2 hrs). It will be like a syrup and coat the back of a spoon.
  2. After the root beer is reduced, add the following and simmer for 20 minutes (everything but the butter): Apple Cider Vinegar, Ketchup, Mustard, Lemon Juice, Worcestershire, Tabasco, Kosher Salt, Black Pepper
  3. Finish with the unsalted butter (or salted if that’s what you have)
